AC Parts Maker achieves early victory in pursuit of design flaws

By Isaac Monterose (Jan. 7, 2022, 4:49 p.m. EST) – A federal judge in Georgia has sided with an air conditioner parts maker against claims by a self-taught electrician that the company’s products caused him serious burns, judging that the electrician was insignificant the expert testimony entitled the manufacturer to a summary judgment.

In an 18-page order filed Wednesday, U.S. District Judge William M. Ray II excluded plaintiff’s expert Vincent Jester from his lawsuit against Emerson Electric Co. and its subsidiary Emerson Climate Technologies Inc.

What is at issue in this case are Jester’s claims that Emerson defective designed and manufactured a compressor used in an air conditioning unit inside an Atlanta restaurant for which he was called. …
