Coffee spreads kindness through products, people, programs
La La Land Kind Café is a cafe that has locations in and around Dallas, Texas and Los Angeles, California.
He proudly makes delicious artisan drinks – but the cafe also has a much bigger purpose for its business.
The cafe has a very simple motto: Normalize kindness.
“We believe that success is measured [by] the positive impact we have on society, not just the money we make,” according to the cafe’s website.
So how exactly does the company do this?
He spreads kindness to his customers in his stores and throughout the community.
The cafe’s TikTok account has over 6 million followers and 99.6 million likes at the time of this report.
But what kind of videos do they make?
The account has produced 74 “drive-by-kindness” videos of people shouting kind comments at strangers walking down the street – with one video even reaching over 16 million views.
“If we can positively impact every human being who walks through our doors, kindness will spread like wildfire,” the company believes.
Many users commented on the video, saying they would cry if this happened to them – or that it made people’s day.
Coffeehowever, also has a worker initiative that stands out among other company efforts.
After learning about the number of children who are aging outside of the foster care system and who are having difficulty finding employment, La La Land decided to create a program for young people in foster care who need a use.
The company runs a Youth in Homestay program in each city’s flagship store – an eight-week program in which youth in homestay learn skills to help them succeed in all aspects of life.
During the program, they gain on-the-job training and customer service skills – they also have mentoring experience.
After completing the program, young people can choose their passion and the career field in which they would like to pursue.
For the rest of their lives, these young people will be able to accept advice on placement, housing, schooling and therapy, according to the We Are One coffee project.
The program helps guide foster youth in the right direction on these fronts.
“At La La Land, our foster youth work alongside people with special needs in a family-oriented workplace,” the company says on its website.
“Side by side, La La Squad creates an inviting space where everyone can feel part of something bigger than themselves.”
The company also states, “We all believe in second chances, but these kids never even got their first.”
He adds: “They are our children, our sons and our daughters, our brothers and our sisters. We are one, America – let’s start acting like it.
