Homeplus expands its range of home meal replacements

South Korean discount chain Homeplus announced on Thursday that it will combine its home meal replacement and meal kit lines to launch a new brand called “Homeplus Signature Home Meal” to meet consumer demand. for nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals.
The new brand will offer high-quality products at reasonable prices, according to the retailer.
The product line offers hansik, or Korean food, meal kits for on-the-go dining, as well as meals suitable for camping and as snacks. It also includes meal kits available for purchase exclusively at Homeplus, created in collaboration with Dongwon F&B’s Tuna Products and LA’s famed Hansik restaurant, Ahgassi Gopchang.
Homeplus officials said its decision to expand its HMR product line stemmed from recent shifts in consumer preferences for easy-to-prepare, reasonably priced meals.
“As the number of consumers looking for food products that are both economical and delicious is increasing, consumers are increasingly interested in HMRs sold in supermarkets,” said Shim Ho-geun, Head of Development and HMR assistance at Homeplus.
“We will prove the competitiveness of large supermarket HMR products in the future by launching high-quality products at reasonable prices, taking into account consumer preferences.”
Meanwhile, the retail chain said its sales of HMR products were up, citing company data that showed a 51% increase in sales of HMR products from January to October, compared to the same period. last year. The company’s data also showed that the number of HMR products it launched increased by 197% since 2019.
