Italian food and beverage products are back “Stronger than ever” at THAIFEX-Anuga 2022 in Bangkok

Presented by the Italian Trade Agency and the Italian Embassy, Lazada online shopping and live cooking demonstrations are showcased at the Italian Pavilion.

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) (www.ice.it), in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Thailand (www.ambbangkok.esteri.it), announces its presence at THAIFEX-Anuga 2022 (www.thaifex-anuga.com), with the opening of the Italian Pavilion, located in Hall 8 of Impact Muang Thong Thani. The pavilion will host a wide variety of Italian companies and importers/distributors, who will promote Italian food and drink to Thai businesses and consumers.

This year around 60 Italian companies are confirmed to participate, much more than the number that participated in the previous THAIFEX-Anuga (2019). These are both well-established companies in the market and new entrants, including seventeen local importers/distributors.

ITA also displays its collaboration with the international e-commerce platform Lazada Thailand at the Italian pavilion “Authentic Italy” (www.lazada.com), with the aim of attracting more Italian companies to the Thai market through online shopping. The partnership with Lazada offers Thai consumers the opportunity to experience the products they have not been able to experience in person in Italy in recent years.

Giuseppe Lamacchia, Trade Commissioner for the Italian Trade Agency’s Bangkok office, said: “Italy is back and ready for business, as evidenced by the level of enthusiasm and attendance at this year’s show. Throughout COVID-19, the Italian Trade Agency and the Italian Government have provided continuous support to Italian businesses. Even in the years 2020-2021, Italian companies achieved good sales in Thailand thanks to our promotional activities – for example, during the Italian Food Week – and agreements with major Thai retailers, such as Central Food, Big C and The Mall Group. This year we look forward to building on this success for all of our Italian partners. »

His Excellency Lorenzo Galanti, Italian Ambassador to Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, added: “Despite our successes throughout a difficult period, there is still room to increase sales of Italian products in Thailand. Thai consumers respond well to our products. We look forward to introducing them to an even wider diversity of premium foods and beverages from twenty regions and two special regions of Italy.

Italian companies at THAIFEX-Anuga will be presented in different aspects; via their importers/distributors, in their own stands or in a showcase in the area of the Italian sales agency. The pavilion will be separated into several main islands: an institutional space for product showcases, an information desk and common areas for business meetings and negotiations.

Other special activities will also be available in the pavilion for visitors. These include:

  • A dedicated cooking show desk with a live demonstration of Italian cuisine run by Italian chefs and Italian restaurant representatives
  • Wine tasting activities led by professional sommeliers.

Participants who respond to the products during the live cooking show can obtain them directly from the distributor and order them immediately.

The five days of activities during the exhibition period will be supported by a dedicated communication campaign activated through traditional news media, social media and influencers. On the last day of the exhibition, May 28, 2022, a special activity is planned when the event opens to the public; promotion of the products exhibited in the Italian pavilion of the Lazmall of Lazada.
