Tesco, Iceland and Co-op urgently recall chicken, spaghetti and tuna products over health concerns

A number of major UK retailers have issued recalls on a variety of different foods and drinks.

Holland and Barrett, Hotel Chocolat, Iceland, Tesco and Co-Op are just some of the retailers advising shoppers not to eat specific items. Caramel milk sticks, Vimto juice and spaghetti rings are just some of the affected items being recalled.

Alerts have been issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in recent days. They include a full description of the affected products with details of pack size, expiry or best-before dates and, in some cases, lot codes.

Here is a list of recent products that have been recalled. Customers are advised not to consume any of the products below, but rather to return them to the store.

Iceland

Iceland recalls Ready-to-cook diced chicken breast from Iceland as some packages may contain uncooked chicken. The possible presence of raw and uncooked chicken makes this product unsuitable for consumption.

The product details are:

The FSA said: “If you have purchased the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. For further details, please contact the service Icelandic customers on 0800 328 0800 and select option 2.”

Vimto squash

Nichols Plc recalls Vimto ‘No Sugar Added’ Squash because they were filled with Vimto Original Squash which contains sugar, due to a packaging error. This makes the product a potential risk for consumers who need to manage their sugar intake.

Hotel Chocolate

Hotel Chocolat recalls Caramel milk sticks purchased between October 21 and November 9 because they contain peanuts which are not mentioned on the label. This means that the product poses a potential health risk for anyone allergic to peanuts.

The product details are:

Lot code: Lot 22286 and Lot 22287

Best before: July 2023.

The FSA said: “Hotel Chocolat is recalling the above product from its customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, who will notify their members of the recall. The company has also issued a point of sale notice to its customers These reviews explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have purchased the product.”

Holland & Barrette

Holland & Barrett is recalling Soy Lecithin Softgels from the marketplace because they contain peanuts which are not mentioned on the label.

The product details are:

The FSA said: “Holland & Barrett is recalling the above products from customers and have been urged to contact the relevant allergy support organizations who will notify their members of the recall.”

Cooperative

Co-op Reminders Co-op Spaghetti Rings in Tomato Sauce because it contains celery which is not mentioned on the label. This means that the product poses a potential health risk for anyone allergic to celery.

John West

John West is recalling John West On The Go Indian Tuna Rice Salad from the marketplace because it contains soy and wheat (gluten) which are not mentioned on the label. This sold in most major supermarkets.

Tesco

Happi Free From recalls 80g packs of Oat M!lk chocolate barssupplied to Tesco as it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label.

The product details are:

Pack size: 80g

Best before: October 2023.
